VOLUNTEER ORIENTATIONS

All current and future volunteers are asked to attend a Volunteer Orientation at the 901 McNeil Street facility. Sessions are being offered on the first Saturday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This hour-long session will acquaint volunteers with the different areas in which they can volunteer and the rules of the Mission. A DVD will give them a personal look behind the scenes at some lives changed through the Mission, and all participants will take a tour of the facility. Refreshments will be served.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Host a Needs Drive
Sponsor a monthly used clothing drive, "whites" drive (new socks, t-shirts, underwear, twin sheets, blankets, towels, washcloths, etc), hygiene products or food drive.  The Rescue Mission has barrels which can be delivered to your location. Pick-up will be provided.  Drives are appreciated throughout the year, not just at the holiday season.

Serve a Meal
Volunteer to serve a hot, nutritious meal to someone in need. We need individuals and groups (4 to 8 people) to serve lunch and dinner throughout the year, seven days a week. You can volunteer once a week, once a month, or several times a year.  Many help serve at our annual Thanksgiving Dinner.  (Regular serving times:  11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 4:45 to 5:45 p.m.) Schedule a time for your family or group.

Help at the Thrift Store
We can really use your help sorting, pricing and stocking donated items for sale. Assistance at our store helps to raise money for various programs and services and helps us remain even further connected to the community.

Support Administration Offices
Helping in the office is as important as helping in any other way. We need volunteer help to answer phones, send out mailings to donors and a host of other office support tasks.

Conduct a Chapel Service
Help us continue to spread the Gospel as we spread the love of God to those in need. If your church outreach ministry would like to share in or lead one of our worship services, you are more than welcome.

Organize Donations
Volunteers are needed to help sort donated clothing for both men, women and children, as well as shelve and straighten the hygiene room and kitchen pantry.

Serve in Medical and Dental Clinics
Doctors, dentists, nurses, dental hygienists, dental assistants and others familiar with medical and dental intake procedures are needed to help staff our free medical and dental clinics. Currently, dental clinics are offered weekly on Wednesday afternoons, and medical clinics are offered twice a month on a Tuesday evening and a Saturday morning.

Help with Fundraising Events
Volunteers and business/church sponsors are always needed to help with annual fundraising events, like the golf tournament or the Wheels for Meals Car Show.
