The Gift of Freedom

We just finished celebrating the 4th of July, celebrating our freedom! What a gift it is to live in freedom. Can you imagine where you would be today without the precious gift of freedom? It’s hard to imagine. Well, the reality for many of our homeless neighbors is this: they are bound by the burdens they carry and come to the Mission yearning to be set free from something.

Our guests come to the Mission bound by their hurt and brokenness from years of abuse, addiction, homelessness, trauma, broken relationships, and more.

In the Bible, 2 Corinthians 3:17 says “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is FREEDOM.”

At the Mission, we walk alongside our guests to help them break their chains and find the ultimate healing and freedom in Jesus Christ.

So how do we open the doors to freedom for our guests? Through relationships!

Most individuals who come to the Mission experience broken relationships, which ultimately has led to a broken relationship with God.

The Mission has been blessed that through the healing of these broken relationships many have come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior. We thank God for bringing our hurting brothers and sisters to the Mission so they can be transformed and live a life of freedom through Christ. We are honored that our guests have chosen to walk out their journey and rediscover their Jeremiah 29:11 with us.

We asked our guests recently, what does freedom mean to you? Here is what some of them said:

“Once you start walking with Jesus, you don’t have the bondage that you used to have before.” Eules

“Freedom means you can go anywhere!” Elzmay, age 8

“I feel like I have been let out of my own prison. I was in chains and bound by my sin. I once was dead and now I am alive. I am a new person in Christ and now I live to serve Him.” Sandy

This is why we do what we do. We ARE seeing our guests set free and we know that our work is changing our cities one life at a time.

Thank you for praying and giving to help our homeless neighbors find freedom. You are an essential part to the road of recovery for our guests. You play a key part in their story!

This summer, please continue to pray for our guests as they continue to find their freedom after the pandemic. You can download a copy of our prayer guide for the summer here.
